Looking to Nature’s Artistry
From day one, hiking around Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, I always loved the rolling meadows, gnarly oaks, redwood forests and even the weather-beaten Manzanita.
Taking the family into Sierra Nevada mountain range, I loved finding old junipers and pines growing out of solid rock formations.
The formal gardens of Japan are also amazing places to discover the artistry of nature. Meticulously manicured, these gardens show how plants and landscapes can become living sculptures, with a sense of flow and movement. Spend some time here and you will come back with a new appreciation for what is possible in any space. |
Today, I find that even the gardens and front yards I notice on a casual walk in the neighborhood, can be a source of inspiration.
Once you come to appreciate the beauty and grace of every environment, you quickly learn to accept Mother Nature as a true artist. I see the art of bonsai as a tribute to natural beauty, and an invitation to become one with nature. |
